How could people produce digital music without a sufficient knowledge about it?

Design Process

The final prototype was developed in several iterations.
It contains 18 bars in two lines—one line for the bass and one for the melody. The sound is looped over eight steps continuously. Each line contains eight bars that control the notes on the specific steps of the loop. The additional bar in each line controls the overall octave of the line.

The prototype uses a Teensy micro-controller and works as an MIDI input device.
